Account books, 1838-1844.

Contain accounts of three kinds: vol. 1 has primarily furniture work, including entries such as "By making 1 Fall leaf stand," "Two Desks," and "To 1 Blk Walnut Table." Vol. 2, with the spine title "Cash Book," contains, first, daily entries of cash on hand, amounts received, and paid out; and, second, a record of accounts including entries for drinks, cigars, tea, lodging, "room and lights," "Use of Room & 6 pc Band," and "Ball Bill." Page 14 contains the notation that because one person "disputed my account which I know to be correct, therefore I now expunge the lousy, low lived scoundrel from my book by drawing black lines around the black hearted rascals name ...."

Mason A. Perkins kept these two volumes working as a cabintemaker in Ticonderoga, NY. The first contains three inscriptions relating to the history of the records. One inscription is a title page reading "Day Book ? Mason A. Perkins ? under the Firm of Wm. Fitch ? For the Cabinet Business."
